Your Time Can Impact a Child’s Life
There are many ways to help a child waiting to be adopted. If you can adopt a child, that is wonderful, but there other ways to help, too. Adopt America Network welcomes volunteers and interns that can give some of their time to our waiting children. Here are the ways you can help:
Become a Child Mentor- Sometimes the children waiting to be adopted or even children that have been adopted in a loving home need additional positive supportive people in their lives. A child mentor is a role model, a person to spend time with, and a trusted friend. The child may need help with homework or need time away from the home doing fun things.
Become a Parent Mentor- Our adoptive families need additional support from other adoptive parents that have been through the process themselves. If you feel like you can lend an ear or a helping hand to some of our families, this is the program for you!
Home for Good Gala- Every year Adopt America Network has its Home for Good Gala which is our biggest fundraiser of the year to raise money for our programs. Leading up to the event we need extra hands to help with donated items for the silent auction. During event week, we need help with setting up, tearing down, or running different errands the day of the event.
Heart Gallery- AAN partners with another local agency, Open Homes, to travel with a heart gallery display of waiting children across Northwest Ohio. We attend community events, faith based organizations and churches, and other important meetings taking place in the community. The heart gallery raises awareness about the need for adoptive families and helps get more waiting children home. Volunteers are needed to help set up the large display at events and to share their enthusiasm about adopting children from foster care.
