After 25 years of service, President Wendy Spoerl announced her intention to retire. This decision follows more than 2 ½ years of collaborative succession planning with the Board to ensure a strong, smooth, and mission-focused transition.

There is no set timeline for Wendy’s departure. She will remain in her role throughout the search process and will support the onboarding of the next President.

Wendy’s leadership has helped thousands of children find permanent, loving families—but she is the first to say that the success of AAN belongs to the entire team. That strength and commitment will continue to guide the organization into its next chapter.
