With a bright smile and warm hug, Raychelle greets everyone with one question, “who are you?” Once she has your name, you are a friend. Due to an illness and high fever at a young age, Raychelle developed significant challenges including deafness. However, she is one of the most joyful people you could meet. After she regales you with her uncanny ability to mimic those around her, she loves to have you settle down on the sofa and watch the news. If she notices that you are talking, she will quickly remind to be quiet with a finger to her lips like the most seasoned librarian. She is currently in a school for the deaf, which has helped her increase her ability to sign. However, she continues to have some difficulty with ASL. Those who know her best feel that she would shine in a family that signed daily and had some connection with deaf culture with the understanding and knowledge about children with developmental disabilities as well.
