Those who know Caleb best describe him as a very kind, helpful individual who continually strives to do his best.
Caleb is very friendly and enjoys conversing with adults. Some of Caleb’s favorite activities include playing with his remote control cars, riding his bike, listening to music, and organizing things. He also enjoys going on walks and spending time at the park. He goes wild over old appliances and loves to take them apart – he can spend long hours occupying himself that way. He would be thrilled to have adoptive parent(s) who shared his tinkering inclinations!

His caregivers report that he is doing really well. Since being in their care, Caleb has consistently expressed happiness that he is living with a nurturing family. Because he is emotionally and cognitively younger than his chronological years, Caleb’s caregivers make sure that there is a caring adult nearby to give him the attention he needs to help him stay on track and be safe. He is continuing to work on learning tools and strategies that he can use when he needs to communicate his feelings. Caleb is making progress using his coping skills and has identified music as the most effective way to calm himself. Caregivers regularly work with Caleb to build trust by showing interest in preferred activities, engaging in conversation with him, and acknowledging his questions and ideas.

Caleb attends a small classroom program year round that addresses his needs. His adoptive parent(s) will need to be strong educational advocates to make sure he has the resources in place to help him be most successful throughout his school years.

Caleb wants to be adopted! He has let his worker know that he could do well with a single-parent or two-parent home, and would really like to have siblings and pets. Both Caleb and his worker will value parents who are nurturing, patient, calm, and good-humored. Having a strong repertoire of behavioral tools and strategies, as well as positive parenting skills, to enhance parenting will help Caleb continue to grow and develop emotionally and behaviorally in positive ways. A family who can provide a consistent daily routine, with clear expectations and limits, as well as lots of one-on-one parental time and attention could be a wonderful fit.
