Connrad is one intelligent kid! He is very articulate and knowledgeable about advanced concepts and things that you wouldn’t expect. Described as having a brilliant mind, he is able to carry on a conversation better than many adults; and he is always looking for new information and ideas that he can incorporate into all facets of his life. Connrad is very interested in electronics and technology, and taking things apart. At times, if he had his way, he’d spend most of day doing techy things. He could benefit from having an adoptive family who will set limits, and encourage an exploration of other activities of interest. He has a great talent for origami!

Connrad does well in school, but he often feels he’s not challenged enough. Connrad likes to do his homework by himself because he says, “this stuff is so easy.” Even so, sometimes he needs to make an extra effort to fully apply himself. An adoptive family who could encourage his academic pursuits and goals could be a nice boost for him. His favorite subject is, of course, technology! Connrad is benefitting from having some extra social and behavioral supports to help him be successful in the classroom.

Connrad continues to improve how he interacts socially. He generally interacts well with others, especially once he’s had time to get to know someone and feels they have things in common. Once a connection is made you won’t find a more loyal friend.

As Connrad has become more comfortable with his counselor, the focus has been on helping him open up and talk more freely about his thoughts and feelings. It will be important for his adoptive family to be supportive of using such resources, especially as Connrad is settling into his new family.

Connrad’s social worker wants to hear from couples and single-parent families who would welcome the opportunity to open their home and hearts to this very bright young man. He would do best with a family where he can receive plenty of one-on-one attention, so being the only child in the home, or with just one sibling, could be ideal. A technology-loving family that will encourage and nurture Connrad’s learning and academic achievements and who will take the time to broaden his life experiences with other interests and pursuits could be a wonderful fit. If you are such a family, we want to hear from you soon!
