Leroy, or LJ as he is fondly known, is a very affectionate little boy who loves the nurturing attention of the significant adults in his life. He especially likes toy cars and trucks, and any toy that has sound effects! Making trips to the park and local playground are some of LJ’s favorite outdoor activities. Leroy loves to draw. He loves lots encouragement and praise and other positive attention. He enjoys engaging with caregivers and other significant adults in his life by having them watch him write his name or assist him in drawing cars. Leroy has made some great independent gains around the dinner table as well and needs little to no assistance.
In 2nd grade for the 2016-2017 year, LJ is enjoying his Life Skills program. LJ, who has been nonverbal, has made exceptional academic progress this past school year! He can now sign and say every letter of the alphabet when they are presented to him on flash cards. He can also identify colors and sign several of them. LJ is very excited that his reading skills are moving along, and he is learning numbers. In addition, LJ has made huge behavioral gains at school. He is much calmer and better able to focus.
The adoptive parent(s) who would be a really good fit for LJ will be folks who are knowledgeable and experienced with children who have delays in their communication abilities and social skills.
If you are a single parent or a couple who wants the opportunity to help LJ realize his full potential, and who has the necessary skills and knowledge to address his special needs, let us know! LJ is a delightful little boy who will be a joyful addition to a warm, supportive family who wants to love and nurture him.
