Joann is a resilient, outgoing, and social girl. She’s a strong student academically, works well with others, and learns skills and concepts quickly. Joann has many interests and enjoys a variety of activities which include playing video games, watching movies, listening to music and singing, sewing, doing puzzles, and running. Joann really likes participating in team sports, but she also enjoys having time to pursue individual interests, and will often prefer to spend her free time on her own rather than socializing with friends. Joann is very fond of all family pets and would love to have a pet or two in her adoptive family.

Now in 11th grade, Joann continues to do very well in school – nearly all A’s in her classes! She especially enjoys reading. Joann is excited to have made the basketball team this year, and looking ahead, she is thinking of participating in volleyball or being a cheerleader. Once she graduates her plans include enrolling in a community college and then transferring to a four-year university. She is exploring possibilities of majoring in medicine (to become a doctor or nurse) or business.

Currently benefitting from counseling, Joann appreciates have a space where she can talk openly about how she is feeling and what she is experiencing. It will be important for her adoptive family to be supportive of using such supports, especially as she is settling into her new home.

Joann really wants to be adopted! She has many strengths to share with her family, and would love to have a family who would encourage and support her as she continues to develop the person she wants to become.

Her worker would especially like to hear from committed, nurturing two-parent families who will support Joann through the good times, and be there for her through the rough spots. Joann would prefer to be an only child, although she might do well with a family with one or two other children, especially younger children. If you are a family that looks forward to parenting and mentoring Joann, and encouraging her high aspirations, we would like to hear from you soon!
