Alyssa is a social, kindhearted teenager of Native American heritage who has strong communication skills and many strengths and interests. Sports are at the top of her list of favorite activities. She excels at track and cross country and has won lots of ribbons in both sports. She also is an avid basketball player. A talented artist, Alyssa enjoys other creative outlets too, such as singing and dancing, choir, and acting in school plays. Alyssa also enjoys reading, playing board games with her foster family, and traveling. Alyssa is having fun focusing her love of animals as a volunteer at PAWS.

Now in high school, Alyssa takes pride in being the only student who has perfect attendance. She is pretty happy with this accomplishment! Alyssa is quite capable academically, and is working at grade level with some supports, but support and encouragement from her adoptive family could be a great boost forward. Having parent(s) who value education, and who are able to find ways to motivate Alyssa to apply herself just might be the key to helping her choose to work at her potential.

Alyssa would like her adoptive family to be supportive of her maintaining some form of contact with her current foster mom and foster sister. It will also be essential that the family chosen to adopt Alyssa be willing to honor her heritage and to provide regular opportunities for her to participate in Native American community and cultural experiences and celebrations.

Alyssa has so much to offer her adoptive family, and so many strengths for them to enjoy and build upon. If you are a couple of a single mom who would welcome the opportunity to parent and mentor Alyssa through adolescence and help her to become an independent and successful adult, we want to hear from you.
