Shymaar, who loves trying new things, meeting new people, and having adventures, is very proud of the new insights she has gained about herself over the past several months. She continues to do well in school and loves to read. Shymaar is ready to be part of a family that loves animals and enjoys being busy. Shymaar loves family outings, watching TV or movies together, having computer time, shopping and just good old-fashioned spending time together. Shymaar is a leader on her recruitment team and thinks a lot about her adoptive family. She does well at school and really wants a typical school experience.

“Hi! My name is Shymaar and if you are interested in adopting me you have to know a little about me, such as the things that make me happy, sad, upset, and even the things that make me straight up laugh. So read on to learn a little about my personality. Some of the things I like to do are: read, draw, write, write stories, talk about things, watch movies, go out to eat, shopping, swimming, cooking, play outside, play trumpet, play on computers, listening to music, and texting on phones.

The things I look for in a family are:

  • Willingness to talk about things that happen that day or in the past.
  • Desire to do things together as a family regularly.
  • Respectful no matter what is going on.
  • Understanding of my needs even if they are a little out of reach, and willingness to compromise.

This writer’s favorite things about Shymaar are how sweet, polite, articulate, thoughtful, engaging and creative she is. Her sense of humor, resiliency, kindness, and genuine interest in connecting and caring for others really shine though in all she does. In Shymaar, a family will find a really hilarious and thoughtful youth. She can be so witty that it really catches you off-guard! Shymaar appreciates having her space and the opportunity to talk once things have settled down when she gets upset. With that said, Shymaar does not like having to process such moments with too many people. She is very perceptive about what is going on around her and has the capacity to offer those insights. During these moments, consistency, firm boundaries, clear (and fair!) consequences, compromise and treating Shymaar like a young adult really help things go more smoothly.

While Shymaar has experienced a lot of ups and downs in the past, she is in a good place right now. She has experienced a lot of growth in strengthening her boundaries and in the way she expresses herself. Shymaar’s recruitment team continues to be passionate about seeing her grow! Shymaar wants nothing more than to belong to a family and to be adopted. We want this for Shymaar, too! Shymaar needs a calm, non-reactive family with a sense of humor, who is ready to support her in every way. She would really love to remain in the state of Washington, so her worker would especially like to hear from local families.
