Vashanti is bright, funny, caring and loving. With her great sense of humor, she has lots of fun joking around and describes herself as “hilarious!” A natural athlete who loves the water, Vashanti is an excellent swimmer, and she brings lots of enthusiasm, too, when playing baseball, basketball, and soccer. She has also recently expressed an interest in learning karate. Her passion, though, is dancing and performing with dance groups; she’s studying both tap and African dance. Like any well-rounded performer, Vashanti would like to join a choir as well. With an eye to the future, Vashanti says she looks forward to being a cheerleader once she’s in high school! It’s important to her to help others, and in school and in her placement, Vashanti volunteers to help younger children with their reading. Vashanti also enjoys going to church and would like a family that could attend with her, or be supportive of her beliefs and participation.

Vashanti feels most secure when she has a high level of structure and consistency which allows her to be more attentive and focused. Vashanti is currently working on learning to identify the circumstances that can lead to feelings of frustration; and she’s increasing her repertoire of tools and strategies so that she is routinely able to express her feelings in positive ways. Her hard work and social enthusiasm have led to her growing ability to build and maintain relationships.

Now entering 6th grade, Vashanti is benefiting from having supports in place to assist her in identifying her strengths and to encourage her to ask for help when it’s needed. She continues to work on boosting her self-confidence as a student. Some goals for Vashanti include increasing her confidence in her skills and to become more independent in completing her assignments.

Vashanti benefits from the attention and affection of kind, calm, patient caregivers. It is expected that she will thrive in an adoptive family where parents are readily and consistently available to give her the time and attention she needs as she continues to grow and develop.

Vashanti’s social worker is looking forward to hearing from experienced single-parent and two-mom families who will bring positive parenting skills and behavioral tools and strategies to parenting and encouraging Vashanti. A family who will value and nurture her strengths and talents, and help her to realize her full potential could be wonderful fit. Vashanti will do best as the only child in the home, but she could also be the youngest of much older siblings. If you feel your family could be right for this self-described hilarious girl, please let us know soon!
