Mika is a fun, smart and caring young lady who enjoys 1:1 attention and feeling ‘heard’. She loves to sing, rap, dance, and make videos, and aspires to be a singer or dancer when she is older. Mika is into sports, too, including soccer, basketball, football, baseball, and wrestling. She’s comfortable playing on boys teams and has done so in the past.
Mika attends a school that is in session year around where her attendance and academic work are both very good. Mika is quite capable of excelling academically.
With the support of her current placement, Mika is able to talk openly about her emotional and behavioral needs. Over the past several months as her ability to experience empathy has increased, she has also matured in her abilitly to handle frustration and stress more appropriatelly as well as her mood ups and downs. She is currently focusing on increasing her social skills. Mika is being encouraged to give herself more credit for what she does and what she has accomplished.
An especially good fit for Mika would be a foster-adopt couple or single mom that has parented, taught, or counseled children and youth in foster care. Mika would do well in a home as an only child or with older, adult children. She needs parent(s) with lots of patience and understanding when it comes to building trust. Mika would especially like to live in northern or eastern Washington, so families in those areas are especially encouraged to inquire. If you are a family that will enjoy and encourage her interests in singing and dancing and provide opportunities for her to pursue her other interests, we want to hear from you.
