Jacob has a winning smile, a great sense of humor, and a real thirst for knowledge and learning. He enjoys people, and likes to play with kids his age. He’s made lots of friends at school! He also likes being able to have some time to himself, and some of his favorite pastimes include activities that involve sand, playing with his doll house, Legos and reading. He enjoys music, too, and he’s found that listening to music can be soothing; it makes him feel better if he’s having a bad day. Playing in the park, and being active in sports such as swimming, rollerblading, and riding his bike are other things that make him happy. You may have guessed – he has lots of energy! Jacob idolizes the Seahawks, and he loves to watch their games!

Jacob has made tremendous strides with his foster family. He’s finding it much easier to talk about his emotions, thoughts and feelings. Jacob does best with plenty of one-on-one attention, and talking with him about his day and his favorite things is a great way to get him to open up and share what he’s feeling. He is also better able to calm himself when he feels upset, and rhythm exercises and one-on-one reading time are two activities that have been beneficial for him.

Jacob has also made tremendous growth in his academics. His testing scores have jumped considerably! While not quite at grade level yet, he continues to improve steadily. He’s at his best in a small classroom environment, with plenty of 1:1 attention. He loves math – it’s “fun!”

Jacob is benefitting from participating in counseling, and he has developed a trusting relationship with his counselor. Jacob is learning how to positively process past experiences and talk about what is going on for him in the present. It will be important for Jacob’s adoptive family to be supportive of using such resources, especially as he settles into his new home.

Jacob is able to spend time with his twin brother regularly. It will be very important for his adoptive family to be willing to help the brothers maintain their connection.

Jacob is a sweet boy who needs a patient, committed adoptive family who will encourage his strengths and show him that he is a valued member of their family. Having parent(s) who will give Jacob the time he needs to build trust that they will always be there for him, will be important. Jacob could do well as the only child in the home, or with older siblings. A single-parent or two-parent family who will make sure he has lots of love, affection, and structure, could be a wonderful fit. If your family would welcome the opportunity to parent and grow with Jacob, we want to hear from you soon.
