Matthew, who loves to talk and laugh, is very social and has many interests. He loves going to the park where he enjoys climbing and playing on the monkey bars. Other favorite high-energy activities include riding his bike and scooter, swimming, and playing basketball. He’s a big fan of Disney Infinity 2.0, Minecraft, and various electronic gadgets. He’d love it if his adoptive family shared his enthusiasm for electronics! Matthew also enjoys expressing himself through drawing, creating crafts, and designing and building with Legos. He’s a bit of a movie buff too!

Matthew loves getting attention from the adults around him. He is one of those boys who is very responsive to being praised and encouraged. Making sure that he routinely gets ‘attaboys!’ and other such compliments throughout the day are good motivators and provide positive learning experiences.

Matthew is currently in 6th grade, and benefits from having some supports in school. He gets along with and enjoys his classmates and teachers. Sitting in the front row helps him to be attentive and stay on task. A family that will be involved in his education and see that he has the resources he needs to be successful will be a good fit for Matthew.

Matthew has benefitted in the past from participating in counseling and enjoyed having a special adult to talk to about his thoughts and feelings. It will be important for his adoptive family to be supportive of using such supports where he could continue to learn behavioral tools and strategies to cope in positive ways with any feelings of stress and frustration, and to be better able to identify situations that can be upsetting for him.

A two-parent or single-dad family with lots of time to devote to a young son will be a great fit for Matthew. A family who will advocate for the educational and social resources to help him realize his full potential would be especially wonderful. Matthew could do well with one or two older or even younger siblings. If you are a family that would enjoy sharing, learning and growing with high-energy, creative Matthew, contact us soon.
