Eddie loves to be in a car, van or school bus and often asks to go for a ride. Eddie goes swimming at the YMCA and bowling. Lighthouse reports that Eddie seems to enjoy all these activities. Eddie really enjoys living at the Lighthouse and Lighthouse staff really adores Eddie. Eddie gets a long very well with other peers in the home but really enjoys being in his playroom. Eddie does not participate in individual counseling at this time as it is unclear whether this would be appropriate due to his inability to adequately convey his thoughts, wants, needs and feelings. Eddie does participate in equine therapy which he appears to really enjoy. Eddie attends school at Barker Extended Learning Center. Eddie attends school everyday unless he is not feeling well. Eddie can be obsessive over electronic equipment, toys and going on outings. Eddie really enjoys school and the staff at his school report that they really like Eddie. Eddie’s school has introduced the PEC board and a therapy dog is in his classroom which Eddie likes to play with and sometimes is able to play catch with the dog as well. Many of Eddie’s target behaviors have decreased substantially; Lighthouse believes this is due to the staff’s constant praise and using positive reinforcements for Eddie’s good behaviors. Lighthouse uses a token economy system to help reinforce Eddie’s good behaviors. Eddie is a very happy youth. Eddie needs consistency and routine, a simple environment, a caregiver who is patient and can work with him in a gentle and simple style. He does not have speech but can recognize several words on a picture board.
