Love, Bandit – (A tail of foster care) by Virginia Ulch

“Bandit is a lovable, sometimes mischievous raccoon who finds himself in foster care with complete strangers, new rules, and many confusing emotions. He eventually works his way through the emotional conflicts to find happiness, acceptance, and finally adoption. The story is told from the perspective of the foster child. This book is a wonderful tool for introducing the feelings that accompany leaving a birth family, learning about rules and new environments, and learning to love and trust again. Activities and advice for foster parents and professionals are included.”

Filled with humorous pictures that will delight all ages in an understandable and an engaging narrative that speaks from the heart and experience, this book addresses critical questions and concerns about foster care and adoption. It is an excellent resource for children, parents, extended families, case workers, counselors, and teachers.

I Love You, Anyway – (A tail of coping with ADHD) by Virginia Ulch

Tagalong is a young raccoon who has ADHD.  He always seems to be doing the wrong things at the wrong times and many times isn’t listening when his mother gives directions.  His brothers enjoy teasing him about this very much.

One day, easy going Tagalong has enough and runs away.  Unfortunately, he forgets the dangers about which Mom has warned him.  It is a close call and a learning experience for the whole family.

Tagalong learns the importance of paying attention and his family learns to have more patience and understanding.  Practical advice for parents and professionals is included.

Both book are written by Virginia Ulch, an elementary counselor in Northwest Ohio for ten years. She has also taught students with learning disabilities. A foster and adoptive parent for 20 years, Virginia currently lives with her husband, two children, two dogs, and a variety of critters that never cease to entertain.

Mrs. Ulch has generously agreed to donate to Adopt America Network, $1 per sale of each book of Love, Bandit (A tail of foster care) and I Love You Anyway (A tail of coping with ADHD). She has another book, Love You, Teddy (A tail of loss and hope) - $1 going toward Hospice of NW Ohio.
