Edieann Didham -
Former President of AAN passed away on February 9, 2008

In May of 2000, Edieann Didham joined Adopt America Network(AAN) as President. Having been retired from BGSU for one whole weekend, it would soon be clear that she had immediately found her newest calling and set out to make her passion a reality…a home for every child.

For four years, Edieann ate and slept Adopt America Network. She strove for excellence in all she did and challenged those who worked for her to do the same. More kids were finding homes than ever before and the message was reverberating that AAN was on the way to becoming a true leader among adoption programs across the country.

The accomplishments during Edieann’s tenure were extensive. Her ability to engage others in the mission of AAN helped us to expand our support locally and regionally. She worked tirelessly to secure the partnership of the Royal Arch Masons bringing a new dimension to AAN’s outreach and family recruitment efforts to communities around the state. The expansion of the adoption specialist network of volunteers brought AAN’s reach to many new states. And most importantly, under Edieann’s leadership, new methods of providing service to our families and to children’s case workers were developed. These included the development of the AAN’s copywrited electronic matching program that resulted in over 800 placements during her tenure.

Edie brought a zest for life and a commitment to children to everything she did.  Those she met along the way can attest to her spirited approach and her resolve regarding the importance of a family in the life of a child.

She will be deeply missed.

She will be long-celebrated.

Edieann’s spirit lives on in all of us who share her passion, her dedication and her deep love for children.
