KIRSTEN
14 Years Old
ID#  WWKMG6521

Kirsten is nonverbal, but is able to communicate her wants and needs and express her feelings in other ways. She also appears to respond to the company of people by babbling and grunting for communication, and she loves to laugh. She often reacts to the sound of her name being called. She enjoys interaction with familiar adults and peers, and enjoys company and physical contact with others. Kirsten likes to watch Barney tapes. She also likes music, planting, playing in the dirt and school. She does not like to be interrupted from her scheduled routine. She also does not like to be touched on the head or hair so it is difficult to brush her hair in the mornings. She is not a morning person and it is sometimes a challenge to brush her teeth. She is stubborn at times when encouraged to perform certain tasks. Kirsten has been diagnosed with respiratory allergies, autistic disorder, severe cerebral palsy, developmental delays, nervous system anomaly and lack of physiological development. She is wheelchair bound and needs assistance with transfers to and from her chair. She is able to mobilize her own wheelchair and is able to stand and pivot; however, she prefers to remain in her wheelchair. She needs a committed family for life.
